 1) Turn the cable adjustment fitting until the groove in the
 cam axle aligns with the correct mark on the counterbalance
 assembly.

 (3)  Do a check of the alignment of the cable with the door open.
 (a) Open the door.
 (b) Make sure the cable aligns correctly when the door is open.
 (c) Adjust the alignment of the cable again if it is necessary.

 (4)  Remove the nut and washer from the counterbalance shaft.

 (5)  Use the spring scale to do a check of the force necessary to open
 and close the door at the external latch handle:
 (a) The maximum handle force, measured at exterior handle and
 normal to the door outer skin, required to raise the door into
 the open position shall be 25 pounds.
 (b) The maximum handle force, measured at the exterior handle and
 normal to the door outer skin, required to lower the door until
 the latch rollers contact the latch receivers shall be 35
 pounds.

 (6)  When the cargo door is open, make sure that the cargo door touches
 the bumper pad (Fig. 402, detail C).

 (7)  Adjust the spring compression of the balance mechanism to change the
 force if it is necessary:
 (a) Remove the wire that locks the nut on the counterbalance shaft.
 (b) Turn the adjustment fitting on the counterbalance shaft so that
 when the cargo door is open it touches the bumper pad.
 (c) Turn the adjustment fitting as it is necessary to get the
 correct force.
 (d) Lock the nut on the counterbalance shaft with the wire.
