Adjust the two roller fittings (Fig. 401).
(a)
Back off the door stop pins.
(b)
Install the roller fittings and their serrated plates.
(c)
Add or remove shims until the clearance between the roller fitting and the latch roller arm is 0.02 to 0.04 inch.

(d) Install the door warning switch on the forward roller fitting.
(e) Adjust the position of the roller fitting until you have these
necessary conditions:
1) The door flushness is as shown in figure 403.
2) The clearance between the roller and the fitting when the
door is closed and latched is 0.07 to 0.25 inch.
(f) Make sure the two rollers engage the roller fitting inner
surfaces and the torque tube turns freely in the bearings.
NOTE:____ Use modeling clay or an equivalent approved procedure to
examine the roller engagement.
CAUTION: AFTER THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE CONTROL ROD, MAKE SURE YOU
_______ INSTALL THE LOCKWIRE ON THE CONTROL ROD AS SHOWN. FAILURE TO CORRECTLY INSTALL THE LOCKWIRE ON THE CONTROL ROD MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR THE ROD ADJUSTMENT TO CHANGE WHICH COULD CAUSE THE DOOR TO UNLATCH DURING UNPRESSURIZED FLIGHT (TAKEOFF OR LANDING).
(g) If you cannot get the necessary conditions when you adjust the roller fittings, remove the access panel and adjust the length of the control rod on the latch mechanism (Fig. 401, Detail A).

Make sure the clearance between the door outer skin and the fuselage is correct (Fig. 403).
NOTE: Trim the door if it is necessary.

(11) Adjust the stop pins.
NOTE: It is necessary to open the door slightly to do this
____ step. There will be a clearance between 0.01 and 0.04 inches between the door stop pins and the door stop pads when the door is closed and locked.
(a) Close but do not latch the door.

(b) Move the internal handle to the overcenter position. Hold it
in this position.
NOTE:____ At this position, the latch roller is on the high
point of the latch cam.
(c) Move the stop pins until they contact the stop pads.
(d) Turn the stop pins the opposite direction to align the groove
for the lockspring.
(e) Install the lockspring.

Do a check of the handle torque.

Close and latch the door.
(b)
Measure the torque necessary to operate the door handle. 1) Make sure the torque is not more than 400 pound-inches applied to the outer handle.
2) Make sure the torque is not more than 300 pound-inches applied to the inner handle.

Adjust the roller fittings or the stop pins if it is necessary.
