(b) Remove the hinge pin and hinge link from the airplane.

Do these steps to remove the upper hinge pin:
(a)
Remove the hinge pin bolt.
NOTE: When the hinge pin is removed the hinge pin may fall to
____ the lower hinge cutout.
(b)
Remove the hinge link and hinge pin from the airplane.
(c)
Put a layer of grease on the hinge pins.
(d)
Put a layer of grease on the sleeves.
(e)
Put a layer of grease on the torque tube.

Clean the hinge pin fittings and the body torque tube components (SOPM 20-30-03).

Lubricate the parts.

Put a layer of grease on the hinge pins.

Put a layer of grease on the sleeves.
(c)
Put a layer of grease on the torque tube.

Do these steps to install the lower hinge link and hinge pin in the airplane:
(a)
Make sure the lower bearing will rotate in the stop plate.
(b)
If the lower bearing does not rotate in the stop plate, do these steps: 1) Remove the stop plate and the bearing from the lower hinge
cutout. 2) If the bearing is worn or damaged, replace the bearing.
Install the new bearing with sealant (SOPM 20-50-03). 3) Install the stop plate and bearing in the hinge cutout. 4) Make sure the bearing is free to rotate. 5) If the bearing is not free to rotate, remove the stop plate
and chamfer the lower edge of the hinge housing 0.040 X 45 degrees to get bearing clearance. 6) Install the stop plate and bearing in the hinge cutout and make sure the bearing is free to rotate.
