CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR BALANCE MECHANISM - REPAIRS
__________________________________________________
1. General_______
A. This procedure conatains a task to use to remove a counterbalance mechanism after the cable is broken.
B. During this task you will use a wrench to turn the cam shaft on the counterbalance. This compresses the springs in the counterbalance. Then, you will put a nut and washer on the guide pin to hold the springs in the compressed position while you release the wrench. Repeat this process until the springs are compressed enough to allow access to the fasteners that hold the counterbalance to the door.
C. If the counterbalance cable is broken, it is likely that the bearing in the idler has been damaged. Replace this bearing before you re-install the counterbalance.
