Look at the hinge arms.
1) Look for cracks.
2) Look for corrosion.
(b)
Make sure the hinge arms attach correctly.
1) Examine the bolts in the hinge arms. a) Make sure the bolts fully engage the nuts. b) Make sure the bolt threads are satisfactory. c) If the nuts and the bolts are not satisfactory, replace
them.

Examine the counterbalance mechanism.
(a)
Examine the cable assembly. 1) Make sure the fittings on the ends of the cable attach correctly. 2) Look for broken wires in the cable.
a) Replace the cable if there is more than one broken wire for each 10 inches of cable length.

Make sure the cable aligns correctly. 1) The cable must align with the pulley in less than 1 degree.
(c)
Examine the counterbalance assembly.
1) Make sure the counterbalance attaches correctly.
2) Look for cracks in the brackets that hold the
counterbalance. 3) Look for corrosion in the counterbalance.

Examine the lanyard assembly.
(a)
Make sure the cables are in good condition.

Make sure the cables attach correctly.

Make sure the bungees are in good condition.

Make sure the bungees attach correctly.
