Pull the top of the hatch inboard.

The latch rollers will be clear of the latch fittings.
(b)
The pivot fitting will disengage from the pivot hook.
(6)
Lift the hatch up and inboard away from the opening.

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of an emergency exit hatch
(2)
The installation of an emergency exit hatch.
B.
This procedure refers to the emergency exit hatch as "the hatch".
C.
If it is necessary to replace the window in the emergency exit hatch, refer to AMM 56-22-00/401, Emergency Exit Hatch Window -Removal/Installation.

2. Emergency Exit Hatch Removal (Fig./401)____________________________
A. General
(1) AIRPLANES WITH SELF-ILLUMINATED EXIT SIGNS;
Refer to the data that follows:
WARNING: DO NOT STAY IN THE AREA IF THE SIGN ABOVE THE EMERGENCY
_______ HATCH HAS A CRACK OR IS BROKEN. THE SIGN CONTAINS RADIOACTIVE GAS THAT CAN BE DANGEROUS. KEEP THE AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM ON. AFTER 20 MINUTES, YOU CAN GO BACK TO THE AREA.
(a)
The sign above the emergency exit hatch can contain a radioactive gas that gives emergency lighting. The gas is dangerous if the sign is damaged.
(b)
AMM 33-51-41/201 contains instructions to replace the sign if it is damaged.
