CARGO COMPARTMENT DOORS - REPAIRS

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains a task to repair the door stop fittings.
B. You can repair cracks that are less than 45 degrees away from the centerline of the door stop fitting. If the crack is not in this area, you must replace the stop fitting.

2. Cargo Compartment Door Stop Fitting Repair (Fig. 801)__________________________________________
A. Standard Tools and Equipment
(1)
Saw to cut a 0.06 +/-0.01 inch slot in the door stop fitting
(2)
Spotface tool with diameter 0.002 to 0.012 inch larger than the bearing plate

Procedure
S 028-004-B00
(1)
Remove the bearing plate.
S 218-003-B00
(2)
Examine the crack.
(a)
Make sure the crack is less than 45° from the centerline of the door stop fitting.
(b)
Make sure the crack stops at or before the hole of the door stop fitting.

(3)
If the crack is not in the correct location, replace the door stop fitting.
S 358-006-B00
(4)
If the crack is in the correct location, repair the door stop fitting:
(a)
Cut a 0.06 +/-0.01-inch wide slot to remove all of the crack.
(b)
Make a spotface in the door stop fitting to give a 0.002 to 0.012-inch clearance with the bearing plate.
(c)
Prepare the surfaces (Method III) and apply Alodine (Ref 51-21-41/701 and 51-21-21/701.

(d) Apply primer (AMM 51-21-99/701).

(5) Bond the bearing plate to the door stop fitting with BMS 5-95 sealant.
