 (3)  
Adjust the door vertically.

 (a)  
Remove the adjustable guide (21) from the aft edge of the door.

 CAUTION:_______DO NOT TIGHTEN THE NUTS (29) TOO MUCH. IF THE NUTS ARE TOO TIGHT, A LARGE LOAD IS ON THE BEARINGS (30) IN THE HANDLE MECHANISM. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HANDLE MECHANISM.

 (b)  
Turn the nuts (29) on the torque tube (31) to get the correct clearance between the gates and the top of the door opening.


 NOTE: Use the special wrench (F-70085) to turn the nuts.

 (c)  
Install the cotter pins in the nuts (29).

 (d)  
Make sure the latch rollers do not hit the edge of the latch fittings. 1) Move the handle to move the latch rollers. 2) Move the position of the latch fittings (2)


 until the latch rollers (9) engage the fittings correctly.

 (4)  
Adjust the door flushness.

 (a)  
Make sure the door is closed and latched.

 (b)  
Move the latch fittings (2) inboard or outboard until you get the correct flushness (Fig. 502) at the forward and aft edges of the door.


 NOTE: Measure the flushness only along the straight sections
____ of the door. Do not measure these dimensions at the skin splices.

 (5)  
Adjust the latch rollers and the latch fittings (Fig. 501 and 503).

 (a)  
Use clay to measure the latch roller clearances. 1) Put clay in the latch fitting. 2) Put a layer of Vaseline on the latch roller. 3) Close and latch the door. 4) Open the door. 5) Measure the depth of the clay to find the latch roller


 clearance.

 (b)  
Make sure the clearance between the bottom of the latch roller and the latch fitting is correct (Fig. 501, view C). 1) Change the length of the control rods (Fig. 503, (3)) to

 get the correct dimension if it is necessary.

 (c)  
Make sure the clearance between the latch roller and the outboard face of the latch fitting is 0.005 inch minimum. 1) Change the length of the push rod (34) (Fig. 501, View 6)


 to get the correct dimension if it is necessary.
 NOTE: Make the pushrod shorter to move the door outboard.

 (d)  Do a check of the force that is necessary to put the external handle into its recess. 1) Pull the external handle from its recess. 2) Use the spring scale to push the handle into its recess. 3) Make sure the force necessary to push the handle into its
