Adjust the striker pin (Fig. 504).
(a)
On a new door, install the striker pin fitting.
NOTE: New doors do not have the striker pin fitting on them.

1) Use the hole on the door frame to put the fitting on the frame as shown in Fig. 504. a) Attach the striker pin to the door with a bolt, a
washer and a self-locking nut. 2) Drill three holes (0.190 + 0.009/-0.000 inch) in the frame through the holes in the fitting. 3) Install the bolts, washers and nuts to hold the fitting to the frame (Fig. 504).
(b) Do a check of the adjustment of the striker pin.
1) While you slowly close the door, see that the striker pin hits the latch pin lever correctly. a) The striker pin must touch the latch pin lever with a
0.50 inch overlap (Fig. 504, Section A-A). b) Adjust the latch pin lever if it is necessary to get the correct dimension (Ref 52-61-53/401).
2) See that the center of the striker pin is from 1.02 to 1.20 inch from the center of the lever (Fig. 504, Section B-B). a) Make the index hole in the door frame larger (0.15 inch
maximum) if it is necessary to get the correct dimension.

4. Forward Entry Door Adjustment (Soft Unlatching)_______________________________________________
A. General
(1)
If the latch torque tubes are not adjusted correctly, the door handle can move too easily. This can cause the door to open accidentally (soft unlatching). This task is a special procedure to adjust the door if it opens accidentally (soft unlatching).
(2)
The soft unlatching adjustment and the vertical adjustment for the forward entry door are related. When you do the soft unlatching adjustment, it affects the vertical adjustment. Make sure these adjustments are within tolerance before you complete the soft unlatching adjustment procedure.
