Make the gate control rods shorter to decrease the handle torque.
(9)
Make sure the latch rollers go into their latch fittings before the latch rods start to turn.
(a)
Adjust the horizontal control rod at the handle cam to decrease the torque.
NOTE: Try to adjust the door to make the latch rollers are as
____ far in the latch fittings as possible.
1) Make sure the force to stow the external handle is not to much.
(10)
If the lining is installed, use paper to make sure the lining does not hit the body structure or trim.
(11)
Make sure the handle cam has smooth operation, without jerks or bumps.
(a)
High points in the cam can cause high torque.
(12)
Make sure the clearance between the latch rollers and the outboard face of the latch fitting is correct.
(a)
The rollers can make the torque high if they touch the outboard face of the latch fitting.
(13)
Make sure the hinge cutout covers are adjusted correctly.
C.
Trouble-shoot for soft unlatching (The door handle does not stay latched in flight or moves when you taxi):
(1)
Make sure the clearance between the latch rollers and the bottom of the latch fittings is correct.
(a)
Do the adjustments for soft unlatching (Ref 52-11-00/501).
D.
Trouble-shoot high external handle stowage force (Ref 52-11-00/501 for usual handle stowage force).
(1)
Do a check of the horizontal push rod at the handle cam.
(a)
Increase the length of the rod to decrease the force to stow the handle. 1) If you adjust the horizontal push rod, do a check of the
latch rollers as they go into their latch fittings.
(2) Make sure the handle shaft is lubricated correctly.

E. Trouble-shoot latch lever does not move freely (AMM 52-11-21/401).
(1)
Do a check of the spring pin in the guide arm roller and make sure that it has not moved to bind on the collar.
F.
Trouble-shoot door noise at the upper or lower hinge flap assembly.
(1)
Adjust the flap assembly as follows:
(a)
Remove four screws and four washers from the flap and hinge cover.
(b)
Bend to adjust the flap as necessary to fit the door frame contour.
(c)
Install the door flap and the hinge cover again with the screws and washers in the adjusted position.
