ENGINE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. The Check of the Engine Fire Bottle (Fig. 601)___________________________________
A. General
(1)
This task gives a visual inspection/check of the engine fire extinguisher bottles M228, M229, M230, and M231.
(2)
The engine fire extinguisher bottle inspection/check is a visual inspection of the fire extinguisher bottles, mounting lugs, wires and related plumbing.
(3)
To make an inspection/check of the fire extinguisher bottle, you must do these steps:
(a)
Remove the fire extinguisher bottle.
(b)
Weigh the fire extinguisher bottle.
(c)
Install the fire extinguisher bottle.
(4)
The inspection/check procedure is the same for all four fire extinguisher bottles.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE SQUIB BEFORE YOU DO THE PROCEDURES FOR DEVICES
_______ THAT ARE SENSITIVE TO ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE THE FIRE BOTTLES TO RELEASE ITS CONTENTS SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) Before you touch the squib, do the procedure for devices that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (AMM 20-41-02/201).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do this task: "Leading Edge Flap Extension" (Ref 27-81-00/201).
