 WARNING:_______ DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT METAL PART OF THE HEATER PROBE WHEN
 THE PROBES ARE HOT.  THE HOT HEATER PROBES CAN CAUSE
 SEVERE BURNS IF NOT HANDLED CORRECTLY OR NOT ALLOW TO COOL

 SUFFICIENTLY.
 (r)  
Slowly reduce the probe temperature until the switch opened indication appears.

 (s)  
Make sure the Heater Temp is within the limits for the temperature switch open setting.

 (t)  
Make sure the difference between the switch closed setting and switch open setting is greater than the deadband requirement.

 (u)  
Disconnect the probe from the thermal switch.

 (v)  
Erase the EICAS BLD DUCT LEAK caution message (AMM 45-10-00/201).

 (10) With the H394 Tester, do the steps that follow:
 (a)  For the 3100-250-1 or the 975-0304-001, push the numbered buttons on the keyboard for a probe target temperature of 165°F or 74°C. For the 3100-250-2 or the 975-0304-002, push the numbered buttons on the keyboard for a probe target temperature of 212°F or 100°C. For the 3100-250-3 or the 975-0304-003, push the numbered buttons on the keyboard for a probe target temperature of 260°F or 127°C .
 NOTE: This temperature selection will let the heat probe
____ stabilize at a temperature slightly below the nominal close temperature. After the probe is stablized, you can gradually increase the temperature of the probe until the switch closes.
 (b)  Put the POWER switch to the ON position on the Thermal Switch Tester. The decimal point in the deg C display will burn steadily as the probe heats and the rising temperature of the probe will be displayed.
 NOTE: When the tester is off, wait at lest 5 seconds
____ before you turn the power on again, to prevent microprocessor lockup.

 (c)  Allow the heat probe to stabilize at the temperature set on the thumbwheel switch.

 (d)  
Gradually increase the thumbwheel setting until the SWITCHED CLOSED light comes on.

 (e)  
Make sure the thumbwheel setting is within the limits for the temperature switch closing.

 (f)  
Make sure the EICAS shows the BLD DUCT LEAK C, BLD DUCT LEAK R, or BLD DUCT LEAK L status message.

 (g)  
Slowly reduce the probe temperature until the "switch opened" indication appears.

 (h)  
Make sure the thumbwheel setting is within the limits for the temperature switch open setting.

 (i)  
Make sure the difference between the switch closed setting and switch open setting is greater than the deadband requirement.

 (j)  
Disconnect the probe from the thermal switch.

 (k)  
Erase the EICAS BLD DUCT LEAK caution message (AMM 45-10-00/201).

 (11)
 Repeat the procedure for all other thermal switches.  Refer to AMM 26-18-02/401 for access of thermal switches.

Put the airplane back to its usual condition.
