CAUTION:_______DO NOT TWIST OR PULL THE DETECTOR. DO NOT PUT TENSION ON THE DETECTOR. DO NOT ATTACH THE DETECTOR WITH A CLAMP. IF YOU TRY TO MAKE THE PERMITTED BENDS OR DENTS STRAIGHT, YOU CAN CAUSE A DETECTOR FAILURE.

Put the detector in the approximate position.

Remove the end caps from the electrical connectors DM691, DM692, DM693, and DM694.

(3) Remove the end fittings from the detector.

(4) Loosely install the detector in the applicable flange fittings.

(5) Install the grommets on the element to make sure each grommet is in
the center of its related clamp.
NOTE:____ The clamps and the grommets must attach the element tightly.

Loosen the clamps and adjust the grommets and the element to install correctly.

Tighten the clamps.

Remove the used detector element if one is there.

Install the new detector element with the most clearance from the units that shake or are moved by torque.

Make a check of all bends and clearances after you tighten the element into the correct position.

Tighten the two end fitting connectors to 50 to 60 pound-inches.

Install the lockwires through the connectors to the flange fittings.

Make a check of the electrical bond between the connector and the primary structure (Ref 20-22-01/601).
NOTE: The resistance must not be more than 0.0025 ohms.
