WHEEL WELL OVERHEAT DETECTOR ELEMENT - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General_______
A. This procedure has a check of the elements of the wheel well overheat detectors (referred to as the detectors in this procedure).
B. The detectors are in support tubing and attach to the top firewall by teflon-impregnated asbestos bushings. Make a note of all worn areas, cuts or other damage on the elements and support tubing. These types of damage are causes of internal damage to the element and failure of the bushings.
C. If the detector is bent too many times, it will change the dielectric value of the element materials. Correctly installed detectors are free from nicks, moisture, or fluid contamination.
D. The detectors are found on the ceiling of the wheel well. Access to the detectors is easy since the wheel well door will be open when the airplane is on ground.
