 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. These tasks remove and install the overheat detector elements for the wheel wells, M691, M692, M693, and M694 (referred to as the detectors in this procedure).
 B.  Examine the detectors before and after the installation for bends less than the minimum bend radius of 1 inch. You must examine the detectors for no bends more near than 1 inch to the clamps and the flange assemblies. The dielectric material in the detector can change values if the bend radii are less than 1 inch. The dielectric material can also change values if the detector is stressed.
 C.  The detectors are found on the ceiling of the wheel well. Access to the detectors is easy since the wheel well will be open when the airplane is on the ground.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE DOOR LOCKS ARE INSTALLED ON THE NOSE AND MAIN
_______ LANDING GEAR (REF 32-00-30-201). FAST MOVEMENT OF THE DOORS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  
Install the door locks on the wing and body landing gear (Ref 32-00-30/201).

Open this circuit breaker on the main power distribution panel, P6, and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:

 (a)  6C7, W/W FIRE DET AC

 (4)  
Remove the lockwires and the electrical connectors DM691, DM692, DM693, and DM694 from the two ends of the detector fitting.

Install the end caps on the electrical connectors.

 (6)  
Start at one of the ends and release the clamps along the length of the detector.

 NOTE: Use the minimum bends to install the detector.

Remove the last electrical connector from the detector element.

Remove the detector end fitting from the flange fitting.

 NOTE: You can let the used detector stay to make the installation
____ easy for the new detector. It will be held in its position by the support tubes and the mounting brackets.
