Squib Assembly Test

(1) Push the TEST 1 switch on the SQUIB TEST module, M7327, on the P5 panel.
(a) Make sure the A, B, C, and D indication lights for the lower cargo compartment come on (green).

(2) Push the TEST 2 switch on the SQUIB TEST module.
NOTE:____TEST 1 does a test of the forward squibs. TEST 2 does a test of the aft squibs.
(a) Make sure the A, B, C, and D indication lights for the lower cargo compartment come on (green).
G. Pressure Switch Test

(1) Push the test pushbutton on the applicable bottle pressure switch.
(a) Make sure the DISCH light on the fire control module comes on (amber).

(a) Make sure the DISCH light goes off.

Do the Pressure Switch Test for each bottle that you replaced.

Remove electrical power if it is not necessary (AMM 24-22-00/201).

LOWER CARGO COMPARTMENT FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains a task which does a check of the squibs on the fire extinguisher bottles in the lower cargo compartment. There are two squibs installed on each fire bottle, M6742, M7906, M7907, and M7908. The fire bottles are located aft of the forward cargo door on the right side of lower cargo compartment.
B. The squib is usually serviced more frequently than the fire extinguisher bottle. A manufacturer's date stamp is on the edge of the squib. (See the manufacturer's recommendations for specific maximum service life.)

WARNING: PUT A PROTECTIVE COVER ON THE SQUIB WHEN YOU DISCONNECT THE
_______ ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. THE SQUIB IS AN ELECTRICALLY EXPLOSIVE DEVICE. IF SQUIBS FIRES, THE BOTTLE WILL SUDDENLY RELEASE ITS CONTENTS AND CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(1)
Remove the squib (Ref 26-23-02/401).

Examine the squib for damage. Carefully examine the soft seal, opposite the electrical connector, which protects the explosive charge.
(a)
If the seal is damaged or there is corrosion, replace the seal.
(b)
If the squib has corrosion on the threads near the sealed end, replace the squib (Ref 26-23-02/401).

(3) Examine the date stamp on the edge of the squib.
(a) If it is after the manufacturer's recommended maximum service life, replace the squib.
