 (e)  
If you find indications of leakage internal to the engine, then do these steps: 1) Repair the leakage. 2) Do the Repair Confirmation at the end of this task.

 (f)  
If you do not find indications of leakage internal to the engine, then continue.


 (4)  
Do this check for hydraulic fluid leakage:

 (a)  
Do the Hydraulic Power Inspection Check (AMM 29-00-00/601).

 (b)  
If you find hydraulic fluid leakage, then do the corrective action indicated in the procedure. 1) Do the Repair Confirmation procedure at the end of this

 task.

 (c)
If you do not find hydraulic fluid leakage, then continue.

 

 (5)
Do this check for contamination in the air distribution system:

 (a)  
Do the task: Removal of Oil Contamination from the Air Conditioning and Pneumatic Systems (AMM 21-00-01/201) with Engine No. 2 and the right pack on.

 (b)  
If smoke or fumes appear, then do a check of the air distribution system for the source of the contamination: 1) Each of the components of the right pack 2) The main distribution manifold 3) The air distribution ducts where the smoke first appears 4) Replace the component or clean the duct that is the source

 of the smoke. 5) Do the Repair Confirmation at the end of this task.

 (c)  
If smoke or fumes do not appear, then do the full task: Removal of Oil Contamination from the Air Conditioning and Pneumatic Systems (AMM 21-00-01/201), with the two engines, the APU, and the two packs on.

 (d)  
If smoke or fumes appear, do a check of these areas in the air distribution system for the source of the contamination: 1) Each of the components of the pack 2) The main distribution manifold 3) The air distribution ducts where the smoke or fumes first

 appear 4) Replace the component or clean the duct that is the source of the smoke. 5) Do the Repair Confirmation at the end of this task.

 (e)  
If smoke or fumes do not appear, and if the problem does not occur on the subsequent flight, then there was an intermittent fault.

 


 D. Repair Confirmation
 (1)  Check that smoke amd fumes do not appear in the flight deck and passenger cabin when the air conditioning system is operating (AMM 21-00-01/201).

 (2)  
If the oil contamination removal procedure is run until no smoke or fumes are present, and if the problem does not occur on the next flight, you have corrected the fault.

 (3)  
If smoke and fumes remain, go to PROCEDURE 1 and do the step for contamination in Engine No. 2, and the step for hydraulic leakage.


 4.  PROCEDURE 3: Smoke or Fumes in the Passenger Cabin or Flight Compartment, reported during flight. Smoke does not stop with Isolation Valve Closed, each of the two Pack Switches Off (In Turn).
 A. Possible Causes:
 (1)  
Hydraulic Fluid Leakage

 (2)  
Contamination in the air distribution system


 B. Fault Isolation Procedure:
 (1)  
Do this check for hydraulic fluid leakage:

 (a)  
Do the Hydraulic Power Inspection Check (AMM 29-00-00/601), and look for leakage.

 (b)  
If you find hydraulic fluid leakage, then do the corrective action indicated in the procedure.

 (c)  
Do the Repair Confirmation procedure at the end of this task.

 (d)  
If you do not find hydraulic fluid leakage, then continue.

 

 (2)  
Do this check of the air distribution system:

 (a)  
Do the task: Removal of Oil Contamination from the Air Conditioning and Pneumatic Systems (AMM 21-00-01/201).

 (b)  
If smoke or fumes appear, do a check of these areas in the air distribution system for the source of the contamination: 1) The main distribution manifold 2) The air distribution ducts where the smoke first appears

 (c)  
Replace the component or clean the duct that is the source of the smoke.

 (d)  
Do the Repair Confirmation at the end of this task.
