 5.  Operational Test - ACM Compressor Discharge and Turbine Inlet Switches______________________________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  This test uses heating equipment to do a check of the overheat switches for the air cycle machine (ACM). Refer to 20-10-27/201, Heat Guns, Soldering Guns, Soldering Irons, for the use of the heating equipment before you do this test.
 B. Special Tools and Equipment
 (1)  Temp-Cal Probe Heater BH 3884-40 (attachment to
 Jet-Cal engine analyzer) or H294 Temp-Cal Thermal Switch Tester or H394 Temp-Cal Tester with adapter cable BH405
 BH24944 Heater Probe Kit (basic P/N)
 NOTE: This kit is necessary to use the
____ testers listed above. There are different dash number kits for specific airplane model and tester combinations. Please consult with supplier.

 E. Prepare for the Test

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING
_______ EDGE SLATS. THE LEADING EDGE SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS ARE PRESSURIZED, THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS ARE AT POSITION 1,2 OR 5, AND WHEN THE AIR/GROUND RELAYS FOR THE NOSE/MAIN LANDING GEAR DETECT AN AIR MODE CONDITION. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Open the bay doors to the air conditioning equipment.

 (3)  
Make sure that the L PACK and R PACK switches are at OFF, on the P5-10 panel.


 F. Pack Thermal Switch Test
 S 715-169
 (1)  Do this test of the 390°F ACM Compressor Discharge switches, S2 and S5:
 (a)  Disconnect the electrical connectors, D532 and D538, from the left and right switches, S2 and S5, respectively.
 CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE THE SWITCH FROM THE BOSS ON THE
_______ DUCT. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE DUCT.
 (b)  
Remove the switch and its O-ring from the duct.

 (c)  
Put a cover in the duct opening to keep out the unwanted materials.

 (d)  Connect the electrical connector to the switch.
 CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE TEMPERATURE OF THE SWITCH PROBE GET HOTTER
_______ THAN 400°F (205°C). DAMAGE TO THE SWITCH COULD OCCUR.
 (e)  
Use the specified heat source equipment to increase the temperature of the switch probe.

 (f)  
Make sure these lights come on when the switch probe temperature reaches 390|10°F (199|6°C): 1) MASTER CAUTION and AIR COND annunciator lights on the P7

 panel
 2) PACK TRIP OFF light on the P5-10 panel


 (g)  
Remove the heat from the switch probe.

 (h)  
Let the switch probe become cool.

 (i)  
Push the TRIP RESET switch on the P5-10 panel.

 (j)  
Make sure that the MASTER CAUTION, AIR COND and the PACK TRIP OFF lights go off.

 (k)  
Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.

 (l)  
Apply an anti-seize compound to the switch threads.
