MAKE SURE THESE STENCILS ARE ON
THE BLOWOUT PANELS:
-ON THE TOP SIDE (AFT COMPARTMENT ONLY):
"PUSH DOWN FOR EMERGENCY ACCESS TO CARGO
COMPARTMENT."
-ON THE LOWER SIDE: "CONTROLLED PRESSURE RELIEF PANEL" AND "ENGAGE EDGES BETWEEN 0.20 AND 0.25 INCHES AND TIGHTEN RESTRAINING BOLTS 20 TO 25 POUND-INCHES TORQUE"

B. Procedure
S 354-006
(1) If a serviceable blowout panel is not available, make a blowout panel:
(a)
Make the new panel from the same material as the defective panel.
(b)
If it is possible, use the defective panel as a template to make the new panel.
(c)
Make the serviceable panel larger than the defective panel.
(d)
Put the panel in the center of the opening in the ceiling.
(e)
Install the cap strips and tighten the restraining bolts until the cap strips touch the panel.
(f)
Make a mark on the panel where the edge of the cap strips touch the panel.
(g)
Remove the cap strips and then the panel.
(h)
Make one more mark that is 0.20 to 0.25 inch from the first mark and nearer to the edge.

(i) Cut off the material between the second mark and the outer edge
of the panel.
(j) Put the stencil on the panel.
NOTE:____ The data about the stencil is in Fig. 401.

Put a serviceable blowout panel in its position against the depressor strips and loosely install the restraining bolts.

If the panel has a mark around its outer edge, align the mark with the edge of the cap strips.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE RESTRAINING BOLTS ARE CORRECTLY TIGHTENED.
_______ MAKE SURE THE CAP STRIPS TOUCH A MINIMUM OF 0.20 INCH AND A MAXIMUM OF 0.25 INCH OF THE OUTER SURFACE OF THE PANEL. THE BLOWOUT PANEL WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY IF YOU DO NOT DO THESE STEPS.
(4)
Make sure the cap strips touch a minimum of 0.20 inch and a maximum of 0.25 inch of the outer surface of the panel.

Tighten the restraining bolts to 20 to 25 pound-inches.
