 B.  In flight, normal operation of the pressurization system will cause the automatic flow control valve to go closed. As a result all air passing through and around the equipment will be discharged under the cargo compartment floor. From under the floor the air, heated from passing through and around the equipment, travels up the sidewalls and circulates between the outer skin insulation and the cargo compartment lining, heating the cargo compartment. This air is then collected in collector shrouds and is exhausted overboard through the forward outflow valve or recirculated in the airplane by the recirculation fan. The forward outflow valve is closed when the cabin air recirculation fan is operating.

 A.  During flight, air from the equipment cooling system circulates between the outer skin insulation and cargo compartment lining to heat the cargo compartment before it is discharged overboard through the forward outflow valve or recirculated. Upon demand from the cabin pressurization outflow valve or operation of the cabin air recirculation fan, the forward outflow valve will close. The forward outflow valve position is controlled by a pair of limit switches located in the cabin pressurization outflow valve actuators (Ref 21-31-00), and by a recirculation fan energized relay in the air conditioning module.
 B.  The forward outflow valve is located under left side of passenger cabin floor, next to the skin in the forward cargo compartment at approximately body station 370.

 FORWARD OUTFLOW VALVE - TROUBLE SHOOTING

 1.  General_______
 A.  The forward outflow valve is used to exhaust air from the equipment cooling system overboard. The exhaust air is routed between the outer skin insulation of the forward cargo compartment and the cargo compartment lining before exiting through the forward outflow valve.
 B.  The forward outflow valve is closed whenever the recirculation fan is operating or the aft outflow valve is completely closed. The valve is open when the aft outflow valve is just slightly open. The valve does not modulate; it is either fully open or fully closed.
 2.  Trouble Shooting________________

 C.  Trouble Shooting Procedure
 (1)  Do the steps of Figure 101 to find the problem with the forward outflow valve.
 D.  Return the Airplane to Its Usual Condition
 (1)  Install the lining in the forward cargo compartment that you removed to get access to the forward outflow valve.
