 PRESSURE AND RELIEF VALVE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure has three tasks. The first task gives instructions for the removal of the pressure and relief valve. The second task gives instructions for the installation of the pressure and relief valve. The third task gives instructions for an operational test of the pressure and relief valve.
 B.  The pressure and relief valve is a spring-loaded flapper valve. The valve will open when the ambient pressure is approximately 1.0 psi more than the cabin pressure.

 2.  Pressure and Relief Valve Removal (Fig. 401)

 B.  Procedure

 (1)  
Remove the aft bulkhead panel (right) in the aft cargo compartment to get access to the pressure and relief valve.

 (2)  
Remove the relief valve door from the frame:

 (a)  
Remove the valve hinge bolts.

 (b)  
Disengage the spring from the frame anchor hole.

 

 NOTE: Do not permit the spring to move suddenly out of the
____ frame anchor hole. Hold the spring while you lower it against the relief valve door.
 (c)  Remove the relief valve door.

 (3)  Remove the spring from the relief valve door:
 (a)  Remove the fasteners which hold the spring support retainer to the relief valve door and remove the retainer.

Hold the spring while you remove the spring support rod.

 (c)  
Disengage the spring from the anchor hole in the relief valve door.

 NOTE: The spring will turn approximately 360°.
