Remove the Aileron Control Wheel (Fig. 401)

Remove the aileron control wheel.
(a)
Push the clip (10) to open the approach plate cover.
(b)
Remove nuts (12) and washers (11) that attach the approach plate (13) to the medallion (15).
(c)
Remove the approach plate (13) from the medallion (15).
(d)
Remove screws (14) that attach the medallion (15) to the control wheel (1).
(e)
Remove the medallion (15) from the control wheel (1).
(f)
Remove the cotter pin (9), wheel retaining nut (8), and special washer (7).
(g)
Make a mark of the positions of the control wheel (1) and of gear and sleeve (6).
(h)
Carefully remove the control wheel (1) from the control column.

Hold the control wheel while you do the subsequent steps:
(a)
Use an extraction tool to make a mark on the wire bundle to identify the clamp location in the control wheel hub.
(b)
Remove the clamp.
(c)
Use the extraction tool to disconnect five pairs of stabilizer trim switch leads at the terminal block (4).
(d)
Disconnect six pairs of autopilot disengage switch leads at the terminal block (4).
(e)
Remove the two screws (29) which hold the microphone switch and trigger assembly (24).
(f)
Carefully pull the assembly from the control wheel (1).
NOTE: The installed radio transmit switch is part of this
____
assembly.
(g)
Make a note of the configuration of the color wires.
(h)
Make a mark of these configurations.
(i)
Remove screws (17) and washers (18) to disconnect wires from terminals of stabilizer trim (30), autopilot disengage (27), microphone (23), and radio transmit switches (Fig. 402).
(j)
Remove bolts (20) and washers (19) which hold the terminal block cover (2) to the terminal block (4).
(k)
Carefully disengage the wire bundle (5) from the control wheel.
