Install the cotter pin (11).

Connect the output shaft (13) of the aileron trim actuator to the trim and feel mechanism (1) with the nut (5), bolt (3), and washer (4).

Install the clip locks on the turnbuckles.

 (o)  
Remove the straightedge from the aileron control wheels.

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close this circuit breaker:

P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) 7D17 AILERON TRIM

Do a test on the aileron trim and feel mechanism (Refer to par. 6).

Put the Airplane Back to its Usual Condition

_______ DOOR LOCKS FROM THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Procedure


 S 712-044
 (1)  
Do a test of the trim operation:

 (a)  
Move the two trim control switches to RIGHT WING DOWN and hold the switches until the movement of the control wheels stops.

 (b)  
Apply manual input to the control wheel to make sure the roller is in the center of the cam detent.

 (c)  
Make sure the captain's control wheel turns clockwise 44 to 50 degrees from the neutral position.

 (d)  
Make sure the right inboard aileron moves up and the left inboard aileron moves down.

 (e)  
Move the trim switches to LEFT WING DOWN and hold the switches until the movement on the control wheels stops.

 (f)  
Make sure the captain's control wheel turns counterclockwise 44 to 50 degrees from the neutral position.

 (g)  
Make sure the left inboard aileron moves up and the right inboard aileron moves down.

 (h)  
Make sure the control wheels and the trim control system are again at the neutral position.

 (2)  
Do a test on the force of the control wheel:

 (a)
Attach a torque wrench to the control wheel adapter.

 (b)  
Turn the control wheel clockwise and counterclockwise.

 (c)  
Make sure the control wheel forces are not more than the permitted forces:


 Wheel Rotation______________  Permitted Torque
 Breakout 19 to 33 pound-inches 80 degrees 72 to 128 pound-inches
 1)  Release from the 80-degree position, make sure the control wheel is not more than 2 degrees from the neutral position.
 (d)  
Move the trim switches to RIGHT WING DOWN and hold the switches until the movement of the control wheels stops.

 (e)  
Turn the captain's wheel clockwise to the 85-degree position and then counterclockwise to the 85-degree position. Release the wheel.

 (f)  
Make sure the captain's wheel moves back clockwise to the neutral position.
