MAINTENANCE MANUAL

 2.  Flight Control Cable Air Pressure Seals (Fig. 7)
_______________________________________
 A.  To prevent loss of fuselage pressurization, air pressure seals are installed on the control cables when they pass through a pressure bulkhead. Aileron cables are raised control cable air pressure seals. For seal and raised seal removal and installation, refer to 20-11-04/401.
 3.  Flight Control Safety Lanyard Receptacle Locations (Fig. 8)
__________________________________________________
 A.  Safety lanyard attachment receptacles are provided on the wing and horizontal stabilizer upper surfaces for use by maintenance personnel working high above the ground. The receptacles on each wing are located in the fixed trailing edge panels forward of ground spoiler hinge line and forward of the removable panel above the outboard aileron actuator. The receptacles on the horizontal stabilizer are located near the logo light and in the fixed trailing edge panel near the inboard elevator power control package. Receptacles on the wing accept lock assemblies of either 24MIT65B00002 or PRE65B00002 safety lanyards. Receptacles on the stabilizer accept lock assemblies of G57001 safety lanyard. The receptacle must be adjusted until flush with the skin on the wing and stabilizer + 0.010 minus 0.000 inch, otherwise the lanyard attachment may not engage properly. A safety lanyard wrench - spanner 2ME65B00002 may be used to adjust the receptacles.
 4.  Flight Control Safety Lanyards
______________________________
 A.  One type of safety lanyard for the wing, PRE65B00002, extends between two door fittings and the outboard receptacle, allowing personnel access to most of the wing.
 B.  Another type of safety lanyard for the wing, 24MIT65B00002, is connected to a single receptacle, allowing personnel a circle of access around the receptacle.
 C.  The safety lanyard for the horizontal stabilizer, G57001, is connected to a single receptacle, allowing personnel a circle of access around the receptacle.
 5.  Shear Rivets
____________
 A.  Shear rivets provide a means by which normal operation of essential flight systems can be maintained in the event of failure or jamming of related or interconnected secondary systems. Each shear rivet location is marked by a marker stating SHEAR JOINT and the quantity and part number of the shear rivet used. The chart below contains a list of all shear rivets used in the flight control systems along with part numbers and references to maintenance manual sections where maintenance procedures can be found.
