 E.  In case of malfunction, portions of the flight control hydraulic systems can be isolated (Fig. 4). This is accomplished with four flight control shutoff valves serving the wing control surfaces, four valves serving the empennage surfaces, and two stabilizer control modules containing shutoff valves. All valves are controlled by switches in the flight compartment.
 F.  A stall warning system alerts the pilots of an impending stall condition by shaking the control columns (Ref 27-32-00/001). Aural warning systems indicate that the stabilizer, flaps or spoilers are not in a correct position for takeoff or landing (Ref 31-51-00/001).
 2.  Lateral Control and Speed Brake Systems (Fig. 5)

 A.  Two ailerons and five spoiler panels on each wing provide lateral control of the airplane. These surfaces are controlled by rotation of the captain's and first officer's aileron control wheels. Control wheel motion is transmitted through control cables to two hydraulically powered lateral control packages. The lateral control packages position aileron programmers and spoiler differential mechanisms. The spoiler differential mechanisms also receive a signal from the speed brake control lever through a speed brake sequence mechanism. The spoiler differential mechanism inputs from the aileron and speed brake systems are combined to provide a single differential mechanism output for control of the five outboard spoilers on each wing. The No. 6 and 7 spoilers are controlled independently by a ground spoiler control valve operated from the speed brake sequence mechanism. Autopilot input is received by the lateral control packages to provide automatic control of the lateral system (Ref 22-13-00/001).
