D. Prepare for Removal

(1) Make sure the ground locks are installed on the landing gear.

WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO INSTALL
_______ THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Wing Landing Gear" (Ref 32-00-30/201).

Set the aileron trim system at the center to keep the aileron at the neutral position (Fig. 201):
(a)
Move the captain's and first officer's control wheels to the neutral position.
(b)
Operate the trim system switches until you can easily install rig pin A/S-2.
NOTE: For small increments of travel, you have to try more
____ than one time to get the trim system at the center.

(6) With a clamp, attach the control wheel straightedge across the thumbrests on the captain's and first officer's control wheels (Fig. 202).

Install a protractor and an adapter on the captain's control wheel.

Adjust the protractor to zero.

Get access to the aileron trim actuator through the opening of the body gear wheel well.

Procedure

(1)
Remove the aileron trim actuator (Fig. 201).
(a)
Disconnect the electrical connector DM254 (22) from the aileron trim actuator (16).
(b)
Disconnect the actuator output shaft (13) from the trim and feel mechanism.
(c)
Remove the bolt (17) that attaches the actuator (16) to the rigging beam bracket (21).
(d)
Remove the aileron trim actuator (16).
(e)
Disconnect the electrical ground strap (23).
(f)
Move the captain's and first officer's control wheels to the neutral position.
(g)
Make sure you can easily install rig pin A/S-2.
