Make sure you can easily install rig pins A/S-8 and A/S-9 in the left and right aileron quadrants (Fig. 504).

Make sure the tension of cables AA and AB is in the limits

Do these steps if you install a new wing cable AA or AB (wheel well to the inboard aileron):

 (a)  
Remove all the rig pins.

 (b)  
Tighten the cables to two times the value shown in Fig. 501.

 (c)  
Turn the control wheels through 20 full travel cycles.

If you cannot install the rig pins easily, or if you installed a new cable, adjust the cables AA and AB to install the rig pins in this task below: "Aileron and Aileron Trim Control System Rigging Instructions".

Adjust the Outboard Aileron Control Linkage

Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Make sure the leading edge group "A" flaps are fully retracted.

Move outboard aileron to the neutral position and keep the control wheels at the neutral position.

 CAUTION: DO NOT INCREASE OR DECREASE PITOT STATIC PRESSURE MORE THAN 4
_______ KNOTS EACH SECOND. THIS IS TO PREVENT POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE LOCKOUT MECHANISM.
 (4)  If you use the pitot static system to lockout the outboard aileron actuator, pressurize the Captain's and the First Officer's pitot static systems to 245 knots minimum (AMM 34-11-00/201).
 NOTE: Use the airspeed indicator on the primary flight display to

 read the pressure.

If you use the tool G27033 Adapter Cable to lockout the outboard aileron, do these steps:

 (a)
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag :

 1)  P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 a) 7D18, OUTBD AILERON LOCKOUT


 (b)  
Disconnect airplane wiring from electrical connector on the actuator.

 (c)  
Connect G27033 Adapter Cable between the airplane wiring and the actuator.

 (d)  
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker:


 1)  P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 a) 7D18, OUTBD AILERON LOCKOUT

 WARNING: KEEP PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL
_______ SURFACES, THE THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THESE COMPONENTS CAN MOVE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (6)  
Supply hydraulic power for systems No. 1 and 4, or 2 and 3 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Do a check with the leading edge group "A" flaps fully retracted and the aileron control wheels at the neutral position:

 (a)  
Make sure the corner of the inboard trailing edge of each outboard aileron is 0.35 to 0.50 inch below the lower surface of the wing trailing edge. 1) If it is not, adjust the input control rod to the aileron


 power package to get the permitted mismatch (Fig. 505).

 (8)  Turn the aileron control wheels through one full travel.

Make sure the movement of the outboard aileron trailing edge is less than | 0.50 degree (| 0.40 inch) from the adjusted neutral position.
