Install the outboard aileron.

 (a)  
Move the aileron into its mounting position.

 (b)  
Install the nuts (23), hinge bolts (7), washers (22), bushing (24), and antirotation clips (6) at hinges No. 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 (Fig. 402).

 (c)  
Tighten the nuts (23) to 80-95 pound-inches.

 (d)  
Install cotter pins.

 (e)  
Connect the support links of the power control package (32) to the aileron.

 (f)  
Install the nuts (29), bolts (21), washers (30, 31, and 39) and antirotation clip (37) at hinge No. 4 (Fig. 402).

 (g)  
Tighten the nuts to 500-650 pound-inches.

 (h)  
Install the cotter pins.

 (i)  
Remove the hoist equipment.

Do a check on the outboard aileron operation:

 (a)  
Manually move the aileron through a minimum of two full cycles.

 (b)  
Make sure the aileron can move easily.

 (c)  
Make sure the aileron moves through full travel with the permitted clearance.

 (3)  Examine the adjustment and worn areas of the aileron seals: (a) Make sure the seal attach angle does not touch the aileron. (b) Make sure the seals compress 10 to 30%.
 (4)  S 864-048Move the aileron to the full up position.
 (5)  S 434-049Connect the actuator piston of the power control package (9) to the aileron. (a) Install the antirotation plate (16) with bolt (16A), washer (16B) and nut (16C). (b) Install the hinge bolt (15), washer (14), bushings (13), retaining ring (10) and nut (11) (Section A-A, Fig. 401). (c) Measure the friction torque of the nut. (d) Tighten the nut to 1000-1200 pound-inches more than the friction torque.
 (6)  S 434-050Connect the input control rod (17).
 (7)  S 434-051Install the cotter pin.
 (8)  S 434-062Install the transmitter control rod to the aileron leading edge.
 (9)  S 434-052Install the bonding jumpers (8) at hinges No. 2 and 5: (a) Use the milliohmmeter to make sure there is a maximum of 0.010 ohms across the bonding jumpers.

 Do this task to lubricate the outboard aileron:  "Aileron and Aileron Trim Control Servicing" (Ref 12-21-16/301).

 Remove the safety device and the safety harness attached to the receptacle (2) on the wing upper surface.

 Do this task to pressurize the hydraulic system (System No. 1 or 2 for the left aileron, systems No. 3 or 4 for the right aileron): "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (Ref 29-11-00/201).

 Set the aileron control system at the neutral position:

 (a)  
Move the captain's and first officer's control wheels to the neutral position.

 (b)  
With a clamp, attach the straightedge across the edges of thumbrests on the control wheels.

 (c)  
Install rig pin A/S-8 or A/S-9 (3) (as applicable) in the inboard aileron quadrant to make sure the system is in the neutral position.

 Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (Ref 24-22-00/201).

 Adjust the input control rod (17) until the inboard trailing edge corner of the aileron is 0.35 to 0.50 inch below the wing trailing edge.
