Install the vertical reaction link (Fig. 401):
(a)
Apply a thin layer of grease to the forward mounting bolt, the plain bushing, and the flanged bushing.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE FLANGED BUSHING CORRECTLY.
_______ FAILURE TO INSTALL THE FLANGED BUSHING CORRECTLY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE VERTICAL REACTION LINK.
(b)
Install the flanged bushing, plain bushing, bushing, and forward mounting bolt (Detail C).
(c)
Install the large nut.
(d)
Use a spanner wrench to measure the run-on torque.
(e)
Tighten the large nut to 40-60 pound-inches more than the run-on torque.
(f)
Install the small nut.
(g)
Use a spanner wrench to measure the run-on torque.
(h)
Tighten the small nut to 40-60 pound-inches more than the run-on torque.
(i)
Install the right attach bolt with the washers, bushings, and nut (Detail B).
(j)
Make sure the shim distances are larger than 0.005 inch.
(k)
Tighten the right attach bolt to 60-180 pound-inches.
(l)
Install the left attach bolt with the washers, and nut (Detail A).
(m)
Make sure the shim distances are larger than 0.005 inch.
(n)
Tighten the left attach bolt to 60-180 pound-inches.
(o)
Install the quadrant mounting bracket on top of the vertical reaction link with four bolts, washers, and nuts.
(p)
Tighten the nuts to 30-40 pound-inches.

Do this task: "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (system No. 1 or 3 for the left control package, system No. 2 or 4 for the right control package) (Ref 29-11-00/201).

Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Manually move the captain's and the first officer's control wheels to the neutral position.
