Make sure the "T" mark on the transmitter shaft is aligned with the slot in the transmitter crank and the "EZ" mark on the transmitter body (Fig. 401).

 (c)  
Remove rig pin R-5.

 (d)  
Attach a phase angle voltmeter directly to the transmitter connector or through a syncro breakout box.

 (e)  
Make sure that the transmitter is electrically nulled (0.0 degree angle) position within 50 milivolts by applying 26 VAC 400 Hz to pins 1 and 2 and measuring voltage at pins 4 and 5 using the phase angle voltmeter.

 NOTE: The transmitter reading may be verified using the EICAS
____ display, accessible thru the MCDU and show a reading of 0 +/-.2 degrees.
 (f)  
If the transmitter is not nulled rotate the adjustment knob on the control rod until the transmitter is nulled. Do not rotate the adjusment knob more than two turns clockwise from its original position.

 (g)  
Make sure the transmitter is nulled and has not changed.

 (h)  
Remove rig pin R-3.

 (i)  
Remove electrical power if not needed (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Do a Check of the Transmitter

 (1)  
Examine the movement of the transmitter:

 (a)  
Push the left rudder pedal forward to stop.

 (b)  
Make sure that the PEDAL indication on the EICAS flight controls maintenance page shows 21.1-21.9 degrees left.

 (2)  S 414-010Do this task to install the ceiling panel that you removed for access: "Install the Zone A Center Trough" (Ref 25-22-01/401).
 (3)  S 864-014Do this task:  "Remove Electrical Power" (Ref 24-22-00/201).

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks, one for the removal and one for the installation of the control column position transmitter (which is referred to as the "transmitter"). The procedure has these parts:

The removal of the transmitter

 (2)  
The installation of the transmitter

 (3)  
An adjustment of the transmitter

 (4)  
An operational test of the transmitter.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
 1) 6J22 COL/RUD PEDAL SENSOR
 2) 6J23 COL/RUD PEDAL IND

 

 S 014-003
 (2)  Do this task to remove the left main deck ceiling panel at station
 297: "Remove the Zone A Center Trough" (Ref 25-22-01/401).

 (3)  
Remove the transmitter:

 (a)  
Remove the wire clamp from the transmitter.
