D. Flight control position indicating systems provide visual indication on the flight deck of control surface position. An indicator on each side of the pilots' control stand shows stabilizer position. The surface position display on the EICAS status page shows the position of the upper and lower rudder, the outboard elevators, the inboard and outboard ailerons, and the No. 4 and 12 spoilers. The FLAPS display on the main EICAS appears whenever flaps are deployed to show trailing edge flap position. Normally a single indicator bar appears to represent position of all trailing edge flaps collectively. When alternate flaps are selected or there is a flap malfunction, the FLAPS display automatically expands to show the position of each trailing edge flap and the position status of each group of leading edge flaps.
