A. Functional Description
(1)
As the control wheel, control column, or rudder pedals are moved, the movement is transferred to the shaft of the corresponding position transmitter. The transmitter electrical output varies with shaft position. The output signal passes the the column/rudder pedal position digitizer which processes the signals and routes them to the EIU's for display on EICAS and for the flight data recorder.

As the speed brake control lever is moved, the movement is transferred to the shaft of the speed brake lever position transmitter. The transmitter electrical output varies with lever position. The output signal passes to the three flight control computers which process the signal for the autopilot and for transmission to the flight data recorder via the EIU's.
B.
Control
(1)
Operation of control wheel, control column, rudder pedal, and speed brake lever position indication is automatic. No control functions are exercised.

1. General_______
A. This procedure has two tasks, one for the removal and one for the installation of the control wheel position transmitter assembly (which is referred to as the "transmitter assembly"). The procedure has these parts:
(1)
The removal of the transmitter assembly
(2)
The installation of the transmitter assembly
(3)
An adjustment of the transmitter assembly
(4)
An operational test of the transmitter assembly.

Remove the ceiling lining panel on the left side at station 290 (AMM 25-59-01/401).

Remove the position transmitter (Fig. 401):

Remove the wire clamp from the transmitter.
