a hydraulic pump.
The electric motor is a conventional induction motor. It operates with a three- phase electric supply of 115 V AC, 400 Hz. It has a blower assembly to help the motor stay cool.
A temperature switch is installed in the electric motor. If the temperature increases to 162 deg. C (503 deg. F) the switch operates and sends signals to the overhead panel and to the ECAM.
The boost pump is a centrifugal type impeller. It raises the fluid
pressure by a nominal 2.1 bar (30 psi) relative to the inlet pressure.
The hydraulic pump is of the variable-displacement inline type. It has seven pistons. A spool valve compensator controls the displacement of the pump through a yoke and yoke actuating piston.
Performance:
-displacement = 4.3 ml/rev.
-
delivery pressure at zero flow = 206 + 3 - 0 bar (2987 + 43.5 - 0 psi)
-
delivery pressure at 23 l/min (6.08 US gal/min) = 196 bar (2842 psi)
-
delivery pressure at 32 l/min (8.45 US gal/min) = 150 bar (2175 psi)
B. Hand Pump 3009GM
Description of the hand pump is given in 52-36-00.
R 6. Operation_________
R Operation of the pushbutton switch (P/BSW) 3804GX on overhead panel 40VU
R controls the electric pump. When the P/BSW is pressed and released, the ON
R light comes on and the electric pump starts. At the same time the lower
R display unit (DU) of the ECAM shows the operation of the pump (if the HYD
R page is selected). It is also possible to start the electric pump from the
R cargo door operating panel (Ref. 52-35-00). In this case, the cargo door
R system gets a supply of hydraulic power.
R
R The pump gets its supply of fluid from the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic
R system and pressurizes the system to a nominal pressure of 206 bar (3000
R psi). The pump automatically changes its output to match the demands of the
R system. When the outlet pressure changes, the compensator moves the yoke
R plate by movement of the actuator. This increases or decreases the stroke of
R the pistons and thus controls the output of the pump. Some inlet fluid goes
R through the hollow drive shaft of the motor to keep the bearings and rotor
R cool.
R
R The output from the electric pump goes to the RH thrust reverser and to the
R high pressure (HP) manifold. From the HP manifold the supply is sent to all
R of the services including the cargo doors.
R
R The current transformer 3807GX and the phase unbalance detector 3808GX
R together monitor the operation of the electric motor. If there is a
R difference in the current flow of the three phases of the supply to the
R motor the current transformer sends a signal. This signal goes to the phase
R unbalance detector. The phase unbalance detector then sends signals to
R contactors 3805GX and 3806GX which causes them to open. This stops the
R supply of electrical power to the motor. At the same time signals are sent
R to the ECAM and to the overhead panel.
R
R If the motor of the electric pump overheats, the temperature switch in the
R motor sends signals to the ECAM and overhead panel. The message "ELEC OVHT"
R appears on the ECAM lower DU and the YELLOW ELEC PUMP/FAULT light comes on.
R The applicable messages appear on the STATUS page of the ECAM upper DU. If
R the temperature decreases, the warnings stop and a message on the STATUS
R page gives the information that the electric pump is available.
