A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING : OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
_______
(1)
Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
(2)
Make sure that the warning notice(s) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems:
-in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
- on the ground service panel of the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems.
(3)
Make sure that the left and right main landing gear doors are open (Ref. TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(4)
Make sure that the access platform is in position.
(5)
Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration (Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(6)
Make sure that the reservoirs of the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(7)
Make sure that the container(s) is/are in position under the hydraulic connections of the power transfer unit.
(8)
Make sure that the isolation coupling of the power transfer unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
Subtask 29-23-41-220-050
B. Inspection of the Power Transfer Unit Shock Mounts
(Ref. Fig. 402/TASK 29-23-41-991-003)
(1)
Clean the PTU shock mounts (37).
(2)
Make sure that the PTU shock mounts (37) show no corrosion, open wires, dents or any other damage.
(3)
Make sure that the dimension between the PTU attachment plate (35) and the dampener body (36) is between 3.75 mm (0.1476 in.) and 5.75 mm (0.2263 in.).

4. Procedure
_________ (Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 29-23-41-991-001-A) Subtask 29-23-41-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Power Transfer Unit CAUTION : FILL THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID BEFORE YOU
_______ CONNECT THE HYDRAULIC LINES. IF NOT YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT.
CAUTION : USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN
_______ YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU USE THE SECOND WRENCH, YOU WILL NOT LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
CAUTION : YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS
_______
LUBRICANT.
(1)
Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(2)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area. NOTE : Make sure that there is no stress on the hydraulic hoses and
____ pipes and that there is sufficient space between them. Do not fully tighten the unions and nuts before all of the hydraulic hoses and pipes are connected. Make sure that the shock mounts do not turn when you tighten the bolts (12).
(3)
Put the power transfer unit (7) with the spacers (23) in position on the support plate (8).
(4)
Install the bolts (12) and the washers (11).
(5)
Safety the bolts (12) with MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-010).
(6)
Remove the blanking caps from the ports of the power transfer unit (7).
(7)
Remove the blanking plugs from the line ends.
(8)
Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.

(9) Apply HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003) to the threads of the
line end-fittings.
(10)
Put HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003) into the HP, LP and case drain ports of the PTU until the unit is completely full.
(11)
Connect the hose to the HP port (15) of the Yellow hydraulic system.
(12)
TORQUE the union nut (16) to between 7.5 and 8.3 m.daN (55.30 and
61.20 lbf.ft)
(13)
Connect the self-sealing coupling (14) to the LP port (13) of the Yellow hydraulic system.
