(4) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.

(5) If it is necessary, remove an FIPG:
(a) Manually open the torque tube door [94].
(b) Remove all of the sealant, A00247 from the torque tube door surface, and the fixed upper
panel [103].
(c) Release the torque tube door [94] to permit it to close.

(6) If it is necessary, install an FIPG on the torque tube door [94]:
(a) Manually open the torque tube door [94].
(b) Apply MS-122DF release agent, G50063 to the fixed upper panel [103] in the area of the
FIPG.
(c) Apply sealant, A00247 to the outboard side of the torque tube door [94] in the area of the
FIPG, between the door and the fixed upper panel [103].
(d) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position to hold the torque tube door [94] in the
closed position until the sealant, A00247 cures fully:
1) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
2) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position. To extend them, do this task:
Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
3) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
(e) Make sure there are no gaps in the area of the FIPG between the torque tube door [94] and
the fixed upper panel [103].

(7) Put the airplane back to its usual condition:
(a) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
(b) Retract the flaps to the retracted position, do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps,
TASK 27-51-00-860-804.

M. Lateral Trim Correction with Asymmetric Main Flap Seals
GUN 001-099, 101-122, 156, 157, 201-999
NOTE: Use these steps if the change in the aileron trim necessary to keep level flight between the
15-unit and 40-unit conditions is not in the limit, or if the limit for the flaps extended to 40-
units condition is not in the limit and the other adjustments have not been effective. This
installs seals that are asymmetric between the left and right wings on the upper and lower
surface of the inboard main flap. The bullnose seals are not changed in this procedure.

(1) The upper and lower seals were originally 0.7 inch thick. They can be replaced by 1.2 inch seals.

(2) Find the appropriate location to change the seals:
(a) Flight test condition; Right Trim at the 40-unit flap condition:
NOTE: Right aileron trim indicates a left wing heavy condition.
1) Replace the upper and lower seals with 1.2 inch seals on the left side.
(b) Flight test condition; Left Trim at the 40-unit flap condition:
NOTE: Left aileron trim indicates a right wing heavy condition.
1) Replace the upper and lower seals with 1.2 inch seals on the right side.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE DOWNLOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING GEAR.
WITHOUT THE DOWNLOCK PINS, THE LANDING GEAR CAN RETRACT AND CAUSE
INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) If the downlock pins are not installed in the nose and main landing gear, do this task: Landing
Gear Downlock Pins Installation, TASK 32-00-01-480-801.

(4) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 30-unit position. To extend them, do this task: Extend the
Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.

(5) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
SUBTASK 27-09-71-020-002
(6) Remove the existing seal [105]:
(a) Remove the screws [104] that attach the seal retainer [106] to the inboard flap [71].
(b) Remove the seal [105], and the seal retainer [106] from the inboard flap [71].
(c) Remove the lockwire that attaches the seal [105] to the retainer [106].
(d) Remove the seal [105] from the seal retainer [106].
SUBTASK 27-09-71-420-002
(7) Install the replacement seal [105]:
(a) Put the seal [105] on the seal retainer [106].
(b) Install the lockwire to attach the seal [105] to the retainer [106].
(c) Put the seal [105] and the seal retainer [106] in their position on the inboard flap [71].
