FLIGHT CONTROLS SHUTOFF VALVE - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
1. General
A. This procedure has the task to do a test of the flight controls shutoff valve.

2. Flight Controls Shutoff Valve Test
A. General
(1) The flight controls shutoff valve is part of the flight controls hydraulic module. The hydraulic
module for the hydraulic system A is found in the left main wheel well. The hydraulic module for
the hydraulic system B is found in the right main wheel well.

WARNING: MAKE SURE ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL
SURFACES, THE THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THESE
COMPONENTS CAN MOVE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER.
THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) To pressurize hydraulic systems A and B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B
Pressurization, TASK 29-11-00-860-801.
E. Do a Test of the Flight Controls Shutoff Valve

(a) Make sure the FLT CONTROL switches on the flight controls panel, P5, are in the ON
position.
(b) Make sure the manual override lever on the flight controls shutoff valve motor is in position
1 for hydraulic systems A and B.
(c) Operate the aileron control wheel to bleed air from the hydraulic system lines and
components.
1) Make sure there is no leakage of hydraulic fluid at the flight control hydraulic modules.
(d) Operate the aileron control wheel, control column, and rudder pedals.
1) Make sure the ailerons, elevators, and rudder operate satisfactory.
(e) Set the FLT CONTROL switches to the OFF position.
1) Make sure the manual override lever on the flight controls shutoff valve motor is in
position 2 for hydraulic systems A and B.
(f) Operate the rudder pedals.
NOTE: The rudder must not operate hydraulically, but the rudder pedals will operate
manually. Some rudder surface movement can occur if the pedal input is large
enough to mechanically displace the PCU actuating piston. Full rudder authority
may be available.
1) Make sure the force to operate the rudder pedals is higher now than when you set the
FLT CONTROLS switches to the ON position.
F. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

(1) Set the FLT CONTROL switches to the ON position.

(2) To remove power from hydraulic systems A and B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B
Power Removal, TASK 29-11-00-860-805.
