positions.
(m) Install the bolt [11], spacer [9], washer [7], washer [8] and nut [4].

(n) Tighten the nut [4] 85-140 pound-inches (9.6-15.8 newton-meters) until the next nut
casstellation aligns with the hole in the bolt.
(o) Install the new pin [10].

(5) Do a check of the operation of the aileron control wheel [3]:
(a) Make sure the captain’s and the first officer’s aileron control wheels [3] are in the neutral
position.
(b) Put the straightedge, SPL-1671 across the top end of the aileron control wheels.
1) Make sure that one end of the first officer’s aileron control wheel [3] is not farther than
0.20 inch (5.0 millimeters) from the straightedge.
(c) Remove the straightedge, SPL-1671 from the aileron control wheels.
(d) Install the adapter, SPL-1674 to the captain’s control wheel.
(e) Install the mount, SPL-1670 and the control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 to the
first officer’s control wheel.
(f) Remove the rig pins A/S-1, A/S-1A and A/S-15 from the transfer mechanism (Figure 401).
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE AILERON CONTROL WHEEL TURN MORE THAN 110 DEGREES
IN EACH DIRECTION FROM NEUTRAL. IF THE AILERON CONTROL WHEEL
TURNS MORE THAN 110 DEGREES, THIS CAN CAUSE CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE
WIRE BUNDLE.
(g) Make sure the aileron control wheel [3] can turn 108 degrees in each direction from the
neutral position.
(h) Make sure the aileron control wheel [3] moves freely and smoothly.
(i) Remove the adapter, SPL-1674 from the captain’s control wheel.
(j) Remove the mount, SPL-1670 and the control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 from
the first officer’s control wheel.

(6) Do this task: Supply Electrical Power, TASK 24-22-00-860-811.

(7) Do a test of the electrical circuits for continuity changed during the replacement of the aileron
control wheel [3].

(8) Use the insulation tester to do a test of the terminal block [17] while you turn the aileron control
wheel [3] from stop to stop.
(a) Do a test on the terminal block for resistance to ground, or wire to wire for a minimum
insulation value of 100 megohms.

(9) Install the medallion.
(a) Install the medallion [6] on the aileron control wheel [3].
(b) Install the screws [5] that attach the medallion [6] to the aileron control wheel [3].
