(1) The adjustment of the trailing edge flaps for lateral trim
(2) The adjustment of the aileron balance tab to equalize lateral manual reversion forces
(3) The speed brake trim adjustment for rolloff discrepancy correction

(5) The rudder trim adjustment for power off discrepancy correction
(6) The flight controls adjustment record
B. Make sure the control system components are correctly adjusted when you measure the trim
necessary for level flight.
C. To measure the lateral trim error you must do a test flight with the flight profile detailed in the task.
D. It is not necessary to adjust the lateral trim if the aileron and rudder trim necessary to keep level
flight are within the limits shown in the table found in the task below:
TASK 27-09-71-820-801
2. Trailing Edge Flap Adjustment for Lateral Trim
A. General
(1) This task supplies the data necessary to adjust the trailing edge flaps to decrease the aileron
trim necessary for straight and level flight during cruise, and with the trailing edge flaps
extended.
(2) It is necessary to adjust the lateral trim if the aileron and rudder trim necessary to keep level
flight are not in the limits shown in (Table 501).
NOTE: There are no specific limits or requirements for lateral trim outside of the flight test
profile below. It is acceptable at other flight conditions to observe different trim settings
from those specified.

*[2] The aileron trim change between flap positions 15 and 40 must be less than 1.4 units. An aileron trim
requirement shift from side to side is acceptable, provided it is withing the limit of 1.4 units.
(3) There are six methods available to adjust the lateral trim.
(a) You can change the shims at the aft end of the carriages on the outboard flap to correct
lateral trim during cruise.
NOTE: This method will have an effect on the lateral trim with the flaps extended.
(b) You can change length of the bellcranks on the aft flap drive for the outboard flap to correct
lateral trim with the flaps extended.
NOTE: This method has the most effect with the flaps extended to the 40 unit position.
There is no effect on the lateral trim with the flaps retracted, and a small effect
with the flaps extended to 1 and 15 unit positions.
(c) You can change the position of the carriage roller cartridges on the inboard flap to correct
lateral trim for all flight conditions.
NOTE: This method will have a significant effect on the lateral trim with the flaps
extended and retracted.
(d) You can change the position of the bullnose seal on the inboard main flap. If the bullnose
seals are not symmetric between the left and right wings, the airflow past the seals can
cause lateral trim errors with the flaps extended to 40-units. This airflow can cause the
aftflap bellcrank adjustment to be not effective.
NOTE: This method will have an effect on the lateral trim with the flaps fully extended and
with the change in the lateral trim between the 15-unit and 40-unit positions.

(e) You can install or remove a Formed in Place Gasket (FIPG) on the torque tube door
adjacent to the upper panel assembly. The FIPG stops air flow from the wheel well to the
upper surface of the inboard flap. A change to the FIPG can be used when the trim
requirement with the flaps extended is large, and the other methods have not been
effective.
NOTE: This method will have an effect on the lateral trim with the flaps fully extended and
with the change in the lateral trim between the 15-unit and 40-unit positions.

(f) You can install asymmetric seals on the inboard main flap upper and lower surfaces.
