(1) This task gives the maintenance steps which prepare the airplane for flight with an AUTO SLAT
light on the forward annunciator panel inoperative.

(1) Open this access panel:

(2) Do the EXISTING FAULTS test on the SMYD BITE:
(a) Push the ON/OFF switch.
NOTE: The display will show EXISTING FAULTS?
(b) Push the YES switch.
1) Make sure the display shows NO FAULTS.
(c) Push the MENU switch to return to the EXISTING FAULTS? display.
(d) Push the ON/OFF switch to turn the SMYD display off.

(4) Attach a LIGHT INOP placard to the AUTO SLAT FAIL light.

9. MMEL 27-11 (DDPG) Restoration - Auto Slat Fail Light System Inoperative
A. General
(1) This task puts the airplane back to its usual condition after operation with an auto slat fail light on
the forward annunciator panel inoperative.

C. Procedure

(1) Correct the fault.
(a) Find the fault code or description of the fault that occurred.
(b) If you find a fault code, then do these steps:
1) Go to the Fault Code Index in the applicable chapter of the FIM and find the fault code.
NOTE: The first two digits of the fault code is the FIM chapter.
2) Find the task number on the same line as the fault code.
3) Go to the task in the FIM and do the steps in the task.
(c) If you find a description of the fault, then do these steps:

1) Go to the Observed Fault List at the beginning of the FIM and find the best description
for the fault.
2) Find the task number on the same line as the fault description.
3) Go to the task in the FIM and do the steps in the task.

(2) Make sure the AUTOSLAT FAIL LIGHT comes on when the light switch is pushed then goes off
when released.

system inoperative.

(1) Do these steps to deactivate the applicable auto slat system:
(a) For the number 1 auto slat system,
Open this circuit breaker and install safety lock:
F/O Electrical System Panel, P6-2

(b) For the number 2 auto slat system,
Open this circuit breaker and install safety lock:

(2) Attach a placard near the AUTO SLAT FAIL light which states - ONE AUTO SLAT SYSTEM INOP.

(3) Do these steps to make sure that the other auto slat system and AUTO SLAT FAIL light operates
normally:
(a) Push the MASTER CAUTION light switch.
1) Make sure the AUTO SLAT FAIL, FLT CONT, and MASTER CAUTION lights come on.
(b) Push the MASTER CAUTION light switch.
