D. Prepare for the Removal
SUBTASK 27-09-51-480-001
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE DOWNLOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING GEARS.
WITHOUT THE DOWNLOCK PINS, THE LANDING GEARS COULD RETRACT AND
CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) If the downlock pins are not installed on all the landing gears, do this task: Landing Gear
Downlock Pins Installation, TASK 32-00-01-480-801.

(2) If there is power on hydraulic system A or B, remove hydraulic power. For the applicable
system, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power Removal, TASK 29-11-00-860-805.
NOTE: Remove power from hydraulic system A if you remove the compensator cartridge in
the left main wheel weel. Remove power from hydraulic system B if you remove the
compensator cartridge in the right main wheel weel.

(3) Do this task: Hydraulic Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-11-01-860-802 or Hydraulic
Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-09-00-860-802.
E. Compensator Cartridge Removal
SUBTASK 27-09-51-020-001
(1) Remove the compensator cartridge [1]:
(a) Put a 5 gallon (19 liter) container, STD-1154 below the compensator cartridge [1] to catch
hydraulic fluid that drains from the compensator cartridge [1].
(b) Remove the compensator cartridge [1] from the flight controls hydraulic module. Discard
the removed packings.
(c) Put a cover on the hydraulic module housing [4] to keep contamination out of the open port.
