AILERON BALANCE TAB - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of an aileron balance tab
(2) An installation of an aileron balance tab.
B. This procedure is applicable for the left and right aileron balance tab.

2. Aileron Balance Tab Removal

C. Aileron Balance Tab Removal
SUBTASK 27-11-21-860-001
(1) Do this task: Remove Pressure from the Aileron Hydraulic Systems A and B,
TASK 27-11-00-860-801.
SUBTASK 27-11-21-020-001
(2) Remove the aileron balance tab assembly [2] (Figure 401):
(a) Remove the bolts [8] that attach the forward removable fairing [9] to the aileron [1].
1) Remove the forward removable fairing [9].
(b) Remove the bolts [6] that attach the aft removable fairing [7] to the aileron balance tab
assembly [2].
1) Remove the aft removable fairing [7].
(c) Remove the pin [12], nuts [11], washers [13], bushings [16], washers [15], and bolts [14] that
attach the aileron tab control rods [10] to the tab mast.
(d) Turn the trailing edge of the aileron balance tab assembly [2] up until you can see the bolts
[3] that attach the hinge covers [5] to the nose cap.
(e) Remove the bolts [3] and washers [4].
(f) Remove the hinge covers [5].
(g) Disconnect the bonding jumpers [29] that are adjacent to the tab hinges No. 1 and No. 5.
1) Remove the nuts [32], washers [31], and bolts [30] to disconnect the bonding jumpers
[29].
(h) Hold and remove the aileron balance tab assembly [2] from the aileron [1]:
1) Remove the pin [37], nuts [38], washers [39], bushings [36], bushings [35], washers [34],
and bolts [33]. Discard the pin [37].
2) Remove the pin [22], nut [17], washer [21], bushing [18], washer [20], and bolt [19].
Discard the pin [22].

3) Remove the pin [23], nut [28], washer [27], bushings [26], washer [25], and bolt [24].
Discard the pin [23].
(i) Carefully remove the aileron balance tab assembly [2] from the hinge assemblies.
(j) Remove the aileron balance tab assembly [2] from the aileron [1].
