FLIGHT CONTROLS SHUTOFF VALVE AND VALVE MOTOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the flight controls shutoff valve assembly (the valve and the valve motor)
(2) An installation of the flight controls shutoff valve assembly (the valve and the valve motor)
(3) A removal of the flight controls shutoff valve motor
(4) An installation of the flight controls shutoff valve motor.
B. The flight controls shutoff valve is part of the flight controls hydraulic module. The hydraulic module
for the hydraulic system A is found in the left main wheel well. The hydraulic module for the hydraulic
system B is found in the right main wheel well.
C. The flight controls shutoff valve is referred to as the "valve" and the flight controls shutoff valve motor
is referred to as the "valve motor" in this procedure.
D. You can replace the valve motor with the valve installed in the flight controls hydraulic module.

2. Flight Controls Shutoff Valve Removal
(Figure 401)
A. General
(1) This task is the removal of the flight controls shutoff valve assembly, which contains the motor
and the valve.

E. Prepare for the Removal
SUBTASK 27-09-31-480-001
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE DOWNLOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING GEARS.
WITHOUT THE DOWNLOCK PINS, THE LANDING GEARS COULD RETRACT AND
CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) If the downlock pins are not installed on all the landing gears, do this task: Landing Gear
Downlock Pins Installation, TASK 32-00-01-480-801.

(2) If there is power on hydraulic system A or B, remove hydraulic power. For applicable hydraulic
system, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power Removal, TASK 29-11-00-860-805.
NOTE: Remove power from hydraulic system A for the left shutoff valve. Remove power from
hydraulic system B for the right shutoff valve.

(3) Do this task: Hydraulic Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-11-01-860-802 or Hydraulic
Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-09-00-860-802.

(4) If you remove the left shutoff valve:
Open this circuit breaker and install safety tag:

(5) If you remove the right shutoff valve:
Open this circuit breaker and install safety tag:

F. Flight Controls Shutoff Valve Removal
SUBTASK 27-09-31-020-001
(1) Remove the valve [8]:
(a) Disconnect the electrical connector [1] from the valve motor [6].
(b) Remove the four bolts [2] and washers [3] that attach the valve [8] to the hydraulic module
housing [5].
(c) Put a 5 gallon (19 liter) container, STD-1154 below the valve [8] to catch hydraulic fluid.
(d) Carefully lift the valve [8] straight up to remove it from the hydraulic module housing [5].
Discard the removed packings.
(e) Put a cover on the hydraulic module housing [5] to keep contamination out of the open
valve hole.
