(4) Install the aileron control wheel [3] (Figure 402):
(a) Install the terminal block [17] in the hub of the wheel.
(b) Install the screws [19], washers [18] and washers [20] to connect the terminals of the switch
wires to the terminal block [17].
(c) Make sure the terminals of the switch wires are installed correctly.
(d) Attach the terminal cover [16] to the aileron control wheel [3] with washers [13] and
screws [12].
(e) Apply Dow Corning 93-006-1 sealant, A00900 to the wire bundle and the control wheel
splines.
(f) Use a wire leader to put the electrical wires in the aileron control wheel [3].
(g) Put a clamp [15] at the mark on the wire bundle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE WIRE BUNDLE LENGTH IS CORRECT BETWEEN THE AILERON
CONTROL COLUMN AND THE AILERON CONTROL WHEEL. THE AILERON
CONTROL WHEEL CAN NOT MOVE FREELY IF THE WIRE BUNDLE IS NOT
CORRECT. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE WIRE BUNDLE INSIDE THE
AILERON CONTROL WHEEL.
(h) Make sure the length of the wire bundle is approximately 27 inches (685.8 millimeters)
between the clamp [15] in the aileron control wheel [3] and the hole in the housing.
(i) Make sure the aileron control wheel [3] moves an equal distance each direction from the
neutral position.
(j) Install the clamp [15] with the screw [14] to hold the wire bundle to the aileron control
wheel [3].
(k) Wind the wire bundle four times around the control wheel hub.
NOTE: As you look forward into the control wheel upper cavity, wind the wire bundle
counterclockwise for the captain’s aileron control wheel. For the first officer’s
aileron control wheel, wind the wire bundle clockwise. Fig. 402, Detail (B).
