D. Aileron Trim Response Test

(1) Do this task: Supply Electrical Power, TASK 24-22-00-860-811.

WARNING: MAKE SURE ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL
SURFACES, THE THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THE CONTROL
SURFACES, THE THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Pressurize hydraulic systems A and B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Pressurization,
TASK 29-11-00-860-801.

(3) Make sure you can freely install and remove the rig pin A/S-15, from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585, in
the aileron trim actuator.

(4) Install the adapter, SPL-1674 to the captain’s control wheel.
NOTE: If the adapter is not available, put a tangent force to the captain’s control wheel at a 6.5
inch (165 millimeters) radius.

(5) Install the mount, SPL-1670 and the control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 to the first
officer’s control wheel.

(6) Do a test of the aileron trim response:
(a) Shake the captain’s control wheel to put the aileron control system at the center.
(b) Make sure the pointer decal on the captain’s and first officer’s control wheels aligns with
the aileron trim decal (zero unit) to a tolerance of 0.00 ±0.02 inches (0.00 ±0.5
millimeters).
(c) At the same time, operate the aileron trim switches, on the control stand, in the LEFT WING
DOWN direction until the trim actuator stops.
1) Measure the movement of the captain’s and first officer’s control wheels from the
neutral position.
2) Make sure the two control wheels turn counterclockwise a minimum of 9.5 trim
indicator units in 24 ±1 seconds.
NOTE: When reading control wheel position, make sure the control system is
centered in the detent by shaking the control wheel.
(d) Move the control wheels to the zero unit position to a tolerance of 0.00 ±0.02 inches (0.0
±0.5 millimeters).
(e) Shake the captain’s control wheel to put the aileron control system at the center.
(f) At the same time, operate the aileron trim switches in the RIGHT WING DOWN direction
until the trim actuator stops.
1) Measure the movement of the captain’s and first officer’s control wheels from the
neutral position.

2) Make sure the two control wheels turn clockwise a minimum of 9.5 trim indicator units
in 24 ±1 seconds.
NOTE: When reading control wheel position, make sure the control system is
centered in the detent by shaking the control wheel.
(g) Move the aileron trim switches to make sure the aileron trim is at the RIGHT WING DOWN
stop.
(h) Manually turn the captain’s control wheel 105 degrees clockwise.
(i) Turn the captain’s control wheel back to the neutral position.
