Asymmetric seals between the flap and the wing to body fairing will permit some airflow
with the flaps extended. A change to the seal can be used when the change in the trim
requirement between flaps 15 and flaps 40 units is large, and the other methods have not
been effective.
NOTE: This method will have an effect on the lateral trim with the flaps fully extended and
with the change in the lateral trim between the 15-unit and 40-unit positions.
(4) You can do more than one of the adjustments to correct for lateral trim problems. The charts
shown in this task are for single adjustments. The results shown in the charts can be added
together if you do multiple adjustments.

G. Find the Necessary Flap Adjustment
SUBTASK 27-09-71-820-001
(1) Do a check of these other systems to make sure they are not the cause of the lateral trim error:
(a) Make sure the ailerons are adjusted correctly. To check the ailerons, do this task: Do A
Check of the Aileron System Adjustment, TASK 27-11-00-820-805.
NOTE: Make sure the aileron downrig is symmetric between the left and right aileron in
the limit of 0.10 inch (2.54 mm).
(b) Make sure the rudder is adjusted correctly. To check the rudder, do this task: Rudder
Centering Test, TASK 27-21-00-700-815-001 or Rudder Centering Test,
TASK 27-21-00-700-815-002.
(c) Make sure the outboard trailing edge flaps and aft flaps are adjusted correctly:
1) For the outboard trailing edge flaps, do this task: Outboard Trailing Edge Flap
Adjustment, TASK 27-51-21-820-801.
2) For the outboard aft flap, do this task: Outboard Aft Flap Installation,
TASK 27-51-22-400-801.
NOTE: Make sure the main flap to aft flap mismatch trailing edge dimensions are in
the limits.
(d) Make sure the inboard trailing edge flaps are adjusted correctly, do this task: Inboard
Trailing Edge Flap Adjustment, TASK 27-51-11-820-801.
NOTE: Make sure the torque tube door is sealed correctly. If the torque tube door is not
