CAUTION:_______ USE A TORQUE WRENCH WITH A DIAL INDICATOR TO FIND WHEN ACTUATOR
INTERNAL STOPS ARE TOUCHED. DO NOT USE MORE THAN 25
POUND-INCHES. IF YOU USE MORE THAN 25 POUND-INCHES, YOU CAN
CAUSE INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE HOOK ACTUATOR.
(1)
Do these steps to set the hook actuator in the rigged closed position:
(a)
Manually turn the hook actuator clockwise to the internal stops.
(b)
Examine the torque. When the torque increases by 15-20 pound-inches, the internal stops are touched.
(c)
Turn the hook actuator 2 1/2 turns counterclockwise.
NOTE: This is the rigged closed position.

(2)
Install the hook actuator on the door as follows (Fig. 401):
(a)
Apply grease to the splined male drives of the hook actuator.
(b)
Adjust the pushrod (12), if it is necessary, to make sure the torque tube (1) engages the hook actuator (3).
(c)
Clean the mating surfaces to make an electrical bond at one of the bolt locations.
(d)
Install the hook actuator (3) on the support bracket (2).
(e)
Use a bonding meter to measure the electrical resistance across the bond (Ref 20-22-01/601).
NOTE: The maximum resistance must not be more than 0.0025
____ ohms.
S 434-013
(3)
Install the torque tube (4) on the splined shaft of the actuator (3) as follows:
(a)
Push the torque tube (4) on the actuator output shaft, install the coupling (11) and hold it tightly with the two clamps (5).
(b)
Remove the two LCD-1 rig pins.

TURNS OF MANUAL DRIVE TORQUE WRENCH
NOTE: THE TURNS ARE THE NUMBER OF TURNS OF A TORQUE WRENCH IN THE MANUAL DRIVE. COUNT THE TURNS AFTER YOU FIND THE INTERNAL STOPS.
USE A TORQUE WRENCH TO FIND THE
INTERNAL STOPS OF THE ACTUATOR AS FOLLOWS:
1.
MEASURE THE TORQUE (M) WHILE YOU MANUALLY TURN THE ACTUATOR.
(THE TORQUE SHOULD BE CONSTANT WITHIN |2 POUND-INCHES).
2.
TURN THE ACTUATOR UNTIL THE TORQUE INCREASES BY 15-20 POUND-INCHES (M + 15).
3.
TURN THE ACTUATOR 1/2-TURN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FROM THE (M + 15) POINT.
4.
THE INTERNAL STOPS ARE AT THIS POINT.
