(h) Make sure there is more than one free turn before the actuator hits the stops.
NOTE: The actuator hits the stops when the torque increases
____ 15-20 pound-inches during one-half turn of the wrench.
(i)
Verify that the external stops have been contacted. If the external stops are not contacted, the internal stops have been contacted and you must adjust the door hook mechanism Ref (AMM 52-34-00/501).
(j)
Adjust the hook mechanism if it is necessary (Ref 52-34-00/501).

Close the door, but do not close the master latch lock handle.

Use the spring scale to push the handle to the closed position.

Make sure the force you measure is not more than 45 pounds.

Make sure the EICAS messages "FWD CARGO DOOR" or "AFT CARGO DOOR" do not show.

CAUTION:_______IN CASE THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN, STOP IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT OPERATE THE DOOR CONTROL SWITCH. HOLDING THE DOOR CONTROL SWITCH MAY DAMAGE THE ACTUATOR. WAIT AT LEAST 1 MINUTE BEFORE SECOND ATTEMPT. IF THE DOOR STILL DOES NOT OPEN, WAIT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE THIRD ATTEMPT.

Open the forward/aft cargo door to get access to the latch mechanism.

Do a check of the midspan latch cams and latch pins for corrosion and deterioration (AMM 52-34-01/601).

Check the lower latch cams and latch pins for corrosion and deterioration (AMM 52-34-01/601).

If the latch pin assemblies (Fig. 603) do not have the retaining clips, make sure that the pins protrude (stick out) from the bearing plate side of the latch fittings.

Do a check of all the pushrods, bearings, and torque tubes for corrosion and wear (Fig. 602).

Make sure the torque tubes and push rods are correctly attached (AMM 52-34-00/501).
