MAINTENANCE MANUAL
CAUTION:_______DO NOT INSTALL THE PINS IN BACKWARDS. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FITTINGS, LATCH CAMS, AND ADJACENT STRUCTURE.
MAKE SURE THAT THE PINS PROTRUDE OUT OF THE LATCH PIN FITTINGS MORE THAN 0.75 INCHES ON THE SIDE OF THE FITTING WHERE THEY ENGAGE THE LATCH CAM.
14) Install each latch pin you removed (Fig. 508). 15) Clean the parts with solvent, Series 92 (AMM 20-30-92).
NOTE: Scrape them with a plastic tool, if it is necessary,
____
to remove all the used sealant.
16) Apply the sealant to the outer surface of the pin and to the inner surface of the fitting. a) Install the pin while the sealant is wet.
17) Apply the sealant to the bolt shank and threads. a) Install the bolt, washer, and nut while the sealant is wet. 18) Apply the sealant to all the surfaces that touch the pin, fitting, bolt, washer, and nut.
NOTE: The bolthead, nut, washer, and threads must have
____ sealant fully applied on all their surfaces. Remove the unwanted sealant from the bearing face of the pin with solvent, Series 92 (AMM 20-30-92).
19) With the door closed, the hook actuator set in the closed position, and the latch actuator set at the open position, do this check: a) Check the clearance between the latch pins and the
latch cams by inserting a 0.002 minimum feeler gage between latch pin and latch cam around entire periphery of latch pin.
20) Rotate the latch actuator to the closed position and do this check: a) Check the clearance between the latch pins and the
latch cams by inserting a 0.002 minimum feeler gage between latch pin and latch cam around entire periphery of latch pin.
(e) Adjust the midspan latch fittings with the latch cams in the closed position: 1) Manually put the latch actuator in the rigged-closed
position with a torque wrench (Fig. 506).

2) Move the midspan latch pin fittings to get these clearances between the latch pins and the latch cams: a) 0.005 to 0.045 inch at the inboard side of the pins
(View B-B, Fig. 503) b) 0.20 to 0.24 inch at the bottom of the pins.
(f) Adjust the midspan latch fittings with the latch cams in the open position: 1) Manually move the latch actuator counterclockwise with a
torque wrench to the internal stops contacted position (Fig. 506). 2) Manually move the hook actuator to the rigged-closed position:
-Find the internal stops with a torque wrench (Fig. 506).
-Manually turn the hook actuator two turns counterclockwise.
3) Adjust the midspan latch fittings to get a 0.002-inch clearance between the midspan latch pins and cams.

Adjust the door restraint mechanism (Fig. 504):
(a)
Put the cargo door hooks in the rigged-closed position.
NOTE: Refer to the "Adjust the hook rigged-closed position"
____
step.
(b)
With the door restraint arm on the hook torque tube cam, do these steps: 1) Adjust the manual release adjustment bolt to get a 0.010-
0.020-inch (0.254-0.508 mm) clearance between the adjustment bolt head and the manual release plunger. 2) Tighten the nut on the adjustment bolt.
(c)
Hold the restraint solenoid tightly against the mounting surface.
