Remove the ceiling panel that is necessary for access

Do a test of the manual operation of the lift actuator.
(a)
Manually turn the lift actuator 50 turns clockwise.
(b)
Make sure the two rotary actuators start to move at the same time to open the door.
(c)
Manually turn the lift actuator 50 turns counterclockwise.
(d)
Make sure the two rotary actuators move to close the door at the same time.

ROTARY ACTUATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The first task is the removal of a rotary actuator from a lower lobe cargo door.
(2)
The second task is the installation of a rotary actuator on a lower lobe cargo door.

2. Rotary Actuator - Removal_________________________
A. General
(1)
The rotary actuators are found on the main deck floor beams inboard of the forward cargo door at body stations 580 and 660, and inboard of the aft cargo door at body stations 1820 and 1900.
(2)
The two rotary actuators hold the same load. If one actuator does not operate correctly, its load will be put on the other actuator. This may cause damage to that actuator. Thus, if you replace an actuator because it does not operate, you must replace the other actuator.
CAUTION:_______YOU MUST REPLACE THE TWO ACTUATORS AT THE SAME TIME. IF YOU DO NOT REPLACE THE TWO ACTUATORS, MORE AIRPLANE DAMAGE WILL OCCUR.

The removal and installation procedures for the rotary actuators at the forward and aft cargo doors are equivalent. But the rotary actuators on the forward cargo door are not interchangeable with the rotary actuators on the aft cargo door.
(4)
The actuators are removed and installed with the cargo door installed.
(5)
You can replace the actuator with the airplane on its gear or on jacks. If the airplane is on its gear, do these steps:

Make sure the fuel is divided the same way on each side of the fuselage
-
Make sure the difference between total fuel quantities on each side of the airplane is less than 5000 pounds.
