Remove the axle thread protector and the axle protector.

Wipe the axle to remove any excess grease.

Examine the axle sleeve at the brake housing support.

If the axle sleeve looks worn, do an inspection of the sleeve (AMM 32-41-15/601).

Examine the bushings on the torque arm of the brake unit housing and on the brake rod. Examine the bolt that connects the brake rod to the torque arm of the brake unit housing.
